Language Hub

Venga! Language Hub is a hub for learning languages and connecting people.

In order to participate in a game, a user should pass a short test to evaluate if she or he can communicate on an appropriate level.

In the online Venga! Language Hub, an explorer studies basic communicative language skills that later he or she uses in practice during the game.

In order to facilitate the process of studying as effective as possible, and moreover - make it attractive, in the Hub a user finds a pathway to achieving the final goal of passing the test.

Venga! Language Event Madrid

Place: Madrid (a pub, n/a specifically)

Time:

Entrance price

The Venga! Event's main idea is to link people that want to learn new languages

People link based on their level of new language they want to speak.

Example: A1 level of Spanish person matches with A1 level of Spanish. B2 level of German meets B2 level of German.

Each pair plays a game (Guess facts about your match).

Instructions:

So, ask a question (in the target language!) such as "I think you study fine arts". If other person's response is valid, you earn a point. Then you switch roles (you answer a question). The person who earns the most points in 10 minutes, wins. Then, go to another person that speaks the same level in your target language.

Teachers as Showmen

So, some teachers imagine their work must remind of work of a clown during a show.

Students' attention span worsened so badly that even listening to their teacher in focus for several minutes reveals as a very hard challenge.

Well, there is no surprise. After all, children's main objective in life is to have fun.

They do not care about their superior who imposes obedience, as far as the teacher is someone who kids admire and respect, because she or he shows respect back to them or - because of other positive reasons, such as reciprocity in trust.

Teacher Development

So system of education relies mostly on the teachers. Without them and students the system is dead.

But what's the problem - teachers lack in their education. Let's not forget that teachers are also students.

Solution: providing teachers with tools that can foster their work.

Examples: Ready-to-apply classroom scenarios.

We should focus on creating and providing more sources for the teachers.

Classrooms are spaces for teachers to guide students. Not merely to shape students' behavior in a specific, imposed by the government direction. Teachers are the guides. Students are the explores. As a teacher - let them. Trust them. As a student - be active. Respect. Help your peers. You can be a guide, too. Explorers can guide, too. (If they know how).

Instructions need to be clear to understand. As a teacher your role is to explain as easy as possible the task to do.

You and your explorers have the same goal. Your explorers must achieve objectives imposed by law. You are there for your pupils to facilitate the process. You can be a good guide, when your students hit desired destination.

How do you know if you delivered? Well, the proof would be students' ability to complete a task without your help.

So, first you go with them to forest holding their hands. You show them hints, such as specific trees to observe, gauge points as i.e., "when you get to the biggest tree, turn left". You convey them through bushes until you arrive at the destination together. Then, let them go the same way, but without you. If they shout for help, trust them. Don't provide them with an obvious information yet. Let them ask their peers. Their survival instincts will activate. When they arrive at the destination (some explorers will be quicker, some slower), celebrate together. Let the exploring experience be fun, compelling and rewarding at the same time.

So our role is to provide teachers with sufficient resources, tools, hints - to help them explore more easier before they guide others.
